Ska-Cumbia Holiday with Free Lobster Buffet and La Chicha de tu Madre

Free Lobster Buffet

These DC ska veterans have been playing throughout the DMV and beyond for 15 years. Like all great lobsters of the sea, FLB remains elusive in their awesomeness, hiding under rocks and appearing only occasionally to skank, molt and drink. The band’s “Fifth-Wave Ska” sound has become synonymous with good times, poor decision-making and abnormally aggressive horns while their energetic – dare one say even frenetic – live shows leave many exhausted, sticky and confused. Despite the cool outfits they’re kind of gross, actually, but musically none compare.

La Chicha de tu Madre:

La Chicha de tu Madre, is an Amazonica Cumbia-Chicha band based in Washington, D.C.

Chicha is a corn drink that has been popular in Andean countries for millennia. It is brewed from fermented maize and can be made either into a mild alcoholic beverage called Chicha de Jora (which was very popular among the Incas), or into a soft drink called Chicha Morada.

La Chicha de tu Madre, incorporated the distinctive pentatonic scales of Andean melodies, some Cuban guajiras, and the psychedelic sounds of American surf guitars, wah-wah pedals, Farfisa organs, and Afro-Peruvian percussion.
