From the outskirts of DC, four young men with a mutual love of funk came together to breathe sensuality into new originals and classic hits. Known for their smash singles, “Too Long”, “For the Love of Funk!”, and “Hey, Did You Steal My Car?”, Strutman Lane’s half Jewish upbringing caters spiritual pocket grooves to the soul. As graduates of the University of Maryland’s Jazz Department, each member spends at least 30 minutes a day working modal interchange, so rest assured you’re getting your money’s worth. Kennan Spencer sets the foundation for the band’s unshakeable groove on drums, and Evan Williamson ties the rhythm section together on the bass. Adam Landa offers his sultry lead vocals and guitar, while Keegan Couse blows his way into your heart through his tenor sax. With influences such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Tom Misch, Bruno Mars, and the Beatles, Strutman Lane will get you out of your seat and on the dance floor. For better or for worse, Strutman Lane will make you rethink your life choices.

Comprised of three young musicians studying jazz performance at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, Something Simple is a powerful trio who undeniably capture the sound of funk and soul. Based in Baltimore, Maryland, the group has been focused on writing and performing new music for an array of audiences. On drums, Matt TC Lucas sets the foundation for Aidan Taylor (bass) and Coby Siegel (guitar) to fit into the groove with ease. Their original music is a product of their unique backgrounds, musical training, and a willingness to collaborate with one another. These like minded artists demand your attention and their energetic style will get you out of your seat and make you want to move.
